i know nothing about ps2 modding but instead of having to buy a mod chip can i just soft mod it like an xbox? also i have an external hard drive with a usb port, is there any way i can get the ps2 to read backups off it?

you can softmod you PS2 using a special boot methode thats if it is the original(bulky) and not the new one(slim). I have do this to mine and works great. I also use myPS2_v1.2 app to copy emulators and other app to the HD and run them using an app called ps2os_03b_48bit(Copied to the Memory card using myPS2_v1.2 and then launching it with the eploit app).

keebles, what softmodding method did you use with the bulky PS2?

I'm not new to the modding scene, the PS2 is the only system I havn't modded, so if you could hook me up with a link for a tutorial, I will be able to follow along without any problems. If keebles isn't around and someone else has some advice, anything would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.
