Hi all,

This is my first post, I've just bought a DRU510A DVD writer & am having some problems. I've installed it as the Secondary Master & flashed the firmware up to 1.0c. I'm using Verbatim 4x DVD-R disks which I understood to be recommended for the Sony drive. I've tried burning DVD Video & Data disks & it takes ~50 minutes to do a full disk.

Using RecordNow DX 4.6 which came bundled with the drive, it seems to start burning at 4x (timer says ~15 minutes) after a couple of minutes however the speed appears to drop to 1x.

I've also tried using Nero 5.5.10.42 which says it is burning at 4x yet still takes 50 minutes. One thing I noticed in Nero is that the record buffer does not stay constant it goes up to 97% then drops to 10%, then back up etc which could explain why it takes so long? The buffer should stay constant right?

I'm running Windows 2000 SP3, the hard drives I'm burning from are on a raid array (that shouldn't make any difference though right?).

Any help you guys can give me is greatly appreciated
