hey,
just wondering if any of you guys have a working version of linux on your xbox. I have read about the ways to do it w/ the mech-installer at xbox-linux.org. But I want to keep my wonderful Unleash-X and XBMC. I have a quite a bit of knowledge on softmodding(dont know everthing), I have a softmoodded box w/ a new hdd, but I cant get the Xebian(version of linux) disc to boot all the way, it stops at the first screen.(you can download the disc image at xbox-linux.org) Anyway, basically my main question is: do you guys know if unleash-x(or XBMC) installed w/ the Krayzie SC installer will run linux-signed .xbe's. I know there are differences in the two installers(mechinstaller and the Krayzie splinter cell) and was wondering if this is where I was running into problems.

Thanks for all your help in advace!

Thanks,

I've been all over the other page, but this new version should do the trick.

Hey,

Sorry for not responding earlier, I had to replace the fuel pump in my truck this weekend, but I am still having problems. I burnt the cd-iso image that you linked to and I believe it is the same one that I already had. I thought it was different at first b/c it said: "dist-2.1.4-xbox.tar" and the one I downloaded said: "dist-1.1.4-xbox.tar". But when you extract the one you linked to it has a cd-iso image named: "1.1.4-xbox.iso", that's the same as the one I have been trying to use before.

I now think it may be some type of video setting that I'm using, which is just NTSC 720X480 w/ the video encoder: CONNEXANT(XBMC settings, i haven't checked the unleashX settings).

I burned the "1.1.4-xbox.iso" image w/ imgburn b/c Nero didn't like putting the cd-iso image on the verbatim DVD-R disc that my xbox prefers.(worked fine w/ imgburn). But the disc doesn't boot past the first screen, i.e.:

2002 xbox-linux.sf.net(something like that and a couple of lines at the top of the screen).

I also thought that maybe I need to burn it to a cd-rw(since my xbox doesn't like cd-r's) because sometimes it just boots straight to XBMC like it doesn't notice the dvd in the tray.

Any help at all would be appreciated, also anyone that has got cd-rw's to work w/ their ver.1.1 xbox, what brand did you use?(i can look for this elsewhere, but just thought i would ask)

Thanks again,
Dirt
