After pouring over this forum I still can't find a definitive answer. Is there any way to use SM 3.8 and either a) an original copy of CB 8.1 or b) a burned cracked codebreaker 9.2? Here's what i've tried :

1 - boot up with original cb 8.1. selected a few cheats. cycle the laser by allowing an eject. put in sm 3.8 dvd boot disc. put in backup without allowing an eject. got the green bar of death.

2 - boot with sm 3.8 cd boot disc. boot cracked codebreaker 9.2. that don't work either.

anyone who sucessfully uses this combo can you please tell me exactly how you do it?

also, i have an .elf that came with my cracked codebreaker. How would that work with the sm 3.8? i could rename it to swapmagic.elf, put it in a swapmagic folder on the root of the usb drive, but then what? where do i put the iso? do i decompress it to the same folder? put it somewhere else? would it boot as a disc? any help would be appreciated. thanks.
