I am trying to make backup copies of Buffy for a friend of mine, we've had success so far, however on Season 2 Disc 6 we keep getting an error. I've tried doing a normal copy, while using the disc, and the error pops up during encoding. Also tried ripping the disc using dvdfab decrypter, and the error pops up during analysis. The error is :
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Programming error - exception occurred
The parameter is incorrect.
I've included a screenshot:

That DVD is on the list of problematic DVDs:

Have you tried AnyDVD?

Take a look into Ripit4me (Free!)
Here is the Guide:
http://www.ripit4me.org/guide.html

Other things that may work....
An earlier version of Shrink, try 3.1.7b5

You could try splitting the disc in two, burning each half to a seperate folder then recombining and burning. See post by ripper82, about half way down.
(You may have to try this with DVD FabDecrypter rather than regular Decrypter.)

I would give AnyDVD a 21 day tryout at some point.

I haven't had much luck with AnyDVD, as it crashes on startup (not running warez, just the trial won't even work for me) I have used dvd region+css free, and have it on my home pc do you think that might work for me, I will try the ripit4me thing though. Also, is there a way to minimize the changes that ripit4me does to the disc, as I'm trying to make these full backups keeping everything intact.

I used dvddecrypter, dvdshrink to iso and Nero to burn and no problems

I'm quite certain I've backed this season. There really shouldn't be any encryptions found on this set that would cause Shrink to error. Regardless, as it has been mentioned myriad times before on this site, errors like this are *usually* a result of the antiquated nature of Shrink. Try a newer, more updated program.

Unfortunately in spite of dvd shrink's "antiquated" nature, I do really like the program. It is the easiest to use, and makes the most reliable copies, with the least loss of any of the programs I've tried . Also newer more updated programs that I've tried are usually payware, so I don't want to do something like that. In my experience DVD Shrink will copy *MOST* anything with a little bit of work involved, and I'd rather do a little bit of work to use a functional freeware program than to have a payware program do it all for me but not as well. Thanks for the input though.

I'm not finding any unreferenced material on the disc. I got it to copy using an older version of shrink, using the output from dvdfab, and it copied without error, however the disc skips, freezes, and glitches. Anyone have any other suggestions, it seems to be a bad disc to try to copy all together, but I know there has to be a way to do it. Also I was told to set shrink to ignore read errors, but I didn't find an option for this, do you think maybe I could somehow use CloneDVD to make an ISO from it then use shrink to compress the iso?
