When it comes to backed up DVD movies, which Drive is better? Sammy or Hitachi? Thanks in advance. I have noticed that my original and backed up movies haven't been playing all that well on my Sammy drive. What I mean is that when I am playing the movies it will sometimes give me a message saying Xbox is attempting to read the disc.I find that funny because my movies don't have any scratches or anything.Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What media are your movies backed up on? I have a Sammy drive and I notice crappier media is less likely to play properly in my 360 than in my slim PS2. Which is surprising, because I figured it would be the other way around. I can't speak on the Hitachi since I don't have one.

All I ever use is Taiyo DVD-R's. I also use Verbatim.I won't use any cheap stuff no matter what.

No way of no for sure without physically examing it, but it sounds like your laser could be dying or maybe it just needs POT tweaking or possibly cleaning. Generally my 360 plays my dvd movies pretty well.

what speed are you burning at? 8x max. is recommended

you might try the DVD+R booktyped to DVD-ROM. BUT the Taiyo Yuden DVD+R are to damn high buying online lol

well I have noticed that when I burn a movie onto a DVD+R or +RW that the movies that usually pause or skip on the -R won't do that on the +R media or +RW.Weird I suppose.Maybe the 360 prefers +R media.

I've also noticed that you need to burn your movies at half the media's rated speed. 16x media burn at 8x, ect...
