Core (Basic System) Hitachi v78 Drive ???

Hi Peoples,
I just got my kid a core console (I know the cheapo one) and I got a free football (woopee) and a Germany 2006 World Cup game. Anyway, When I entered the disc to test the console before I wrap it up ready to put under the tree on xmas Eve night, The game would not get to play and I kept getting error messages saying to 1. enter gamne in to a xbo 360 and 2. try and vclean the disc.
Anyway I then thought to test the console by putting in a cd (playing fine) and also 2 x dvd's (also played fine) so does anybody know what is up with the game ???
Also when I wiped it foe the 2nd time it played up to allowing me to coose a team and then froze on me. So Im not a happy bunny as I only got this for my kid and it has to have some game for him to play on on xmas day.

So can anyone please help.

If it's a untouched console with a retail game that doesn't work, take the damn thing back and get a new one. The hitachi 78 drive doesn't matter if it's not modded.

I have sorted it now, And I didnt want to take it back coz their is no more World cup Facia Consoles left and My kid has just started a football club and isd turning footy mad. But yes that would of been the best thing to do if it was more than just the game needing a wipe. ]
