Wow... and this is why I don't pre-order or pretty much buy anything from Gamestop/EB Games. I can't believe they would estimate it wrong. With a console that is going to be hard to find come launch and following, you would assume they would under-estimate. This sucks for everyone who did pre-order.

generally i am not a fan of gamestop/eb however this time i think they are doing things the right way. in the link posted above it states they have asked employees to hold off, which is comforting to know customers first. also i got an email today from gamestop, their usual weekly letter or w/e, and it said that due to the high demand and limited supply, their online store WILL NOT take preorders until all their in-store preorders are filled. finally it would seem they are doing something right instead of constantly taking advantage of consumers...

Gamestop just called me, they confirmed that i will be getting my system on Friday. However, he told me that Sony cut back 40% on their systems. Im wondering is this 40% of the systems that Gamestop was suppose to get, or 40% of North Americas 400,000 systems???

I'm 3rd inline paid in full, haven't got the call yet but I think my chances are 75% at least I hope, if I don't get one I will demand my money back and be forced to campout.

well what number inline were you when you preordered. were you number 3 overall as in the 3rd person there, or where you the 5th person there, but number 3 for the system you wanted.
example, i was number 4 at my gamestop, but because two of the 3 ahead of my wanted the 20gig model, i am actually number 2 on the list. i too got a call from gamestop and asked what number i was and he said 2, so i am assuming that gamestop made a couple lists and the number you are represents where you are on that list, not exactly what number inline you were. if your number 3 i see no reason why you wouldn't be getting a system...

I was #3 inline and 3rd to get the same system and 1 and 2, but I will call just to check what # I am, another thing that I did notice that was told to me and my wife was that, if lets say there are 2-4 and two ppl piad there's in full those were going to get their's before the other two so I geuss being that I paid in full has some advantages.
Updaste: call ebgames and said there were about to call ppl for preorders, I will get mine and dont know how many they got because I didn't ask. I was 3rd in line and they only took 6 preorders, so whoever is after fourth place that got 60gb ps3 let us know what are the odds or percentage of ebgames cutoffs of the ps3.

In my area gamestop will be taking ps3's from the walmart in order to fulfill all the other peoples preorders. It kinda sucks because I didnt have a preorder and i was gonna camp out at walmart. I still probably will and skip school since i live in a small town.
