Bought a defective ps2 where the laser wasnt working. I replaced the laser with a new one, but it turned out that the reason the disc wasnt being read was that the disc spinner thingie wasnt spinning. What could the problem be? The laser moves up and down the "rails" but the laser just goes clicking when the ps2 starts up. It actually says "Reading Disc"in the browser, but it just stays like that. It is a v5 PAL machine with a Messiah modchip.

Check the fuse with a multimeter its labled PS1, PS2...
