hello,

this will take a few paragraphs but please help me. so i just got a new ps2, well it it isnt new new, but it is the old chubby style. i think version schp-39001. i have the network adapter and i am trying to install the hard drive so that i can save my games to it. so i can minimize load time and decrease strain on the laser. i have a maxtor 200gb hard that works with compatible with the network adapter. it was shown on the list of compatable drives. i also downloaded winhiip version 1.7.3 and used that to first format the hard drive and transfer games on to my hard drive. i was successful with all of that. i also made a copy of hdloader and burnt the .iso or the .cue (just the .cue) to the disc as an image in Nero or Alcohol 120%. i also put the jumper on the harddrive to the master setting. when i hook everything to the ps2 including the hd and network adapter and load the cd or dvd of hdloader depending on which burn application it is for, i get a screen on my tv that reads please insert a playstation or playstation 2 format disc. i have downloaded the versions of hdloader from

http://dl7.rapidshare.de/files/23995983/...VD_ISO_s_8b.rar
and also
http://www.sksapps.com/index.php?page=hd.html

i dont know what i have done wrong and why i cant load a game from my harddrive. i dont think it is the ps2 cause i have tried this on both of my ps2s. the version of my other ps2 is schp-50001. the same screen comes up no matter which ps2 i use. could it be my network adapter? the connection seems really good

Simpy you can't run unsigned code on your PS2. You need a swap disk or a modchip or a way to install the BxDATA exploit to your memcard...

P.S. if you know someone with a modded PS2 so you can copy what you want in your memcard, is dead easy to create the exploit, you only need an original PS1 disk...

Ask your friends if they have ARMax you can use that to put the needed files on your memcard.

Just like you can't run backups on an unmodified console, you can't run homebrew software without modifying your PS2 first. As previous posters have stated, you either need to install modchip or run an exploit so that you can run homebrew PS2 software like HDLoader on your PS2.

Here's a tutorial in softmodding your PS2, so you can run HDLoader: http://forum.somethingawful.com/showthre...hreadid=1883489
