Okay, I have an old slimline PS2 that died. The laser is actually weak, and can only play CD games. I bought a new one, but that's not the point.

My Ps2 model is a SCPH-70002 and has the laser model SPU-3170. Would it be possible if I fitted it with a PVR-802W laser as a replacement? Would that work? Becuase its cheaper to buy the PVR than the SPU...

I'm just gonna answer myself.
I assume is quite safe and compatible as stated in this online store:
http://acegamestore.com.au/product.aspx?...8&ProductID=174

So, I'll go buy one and fix my old PS2up!
