reading how to open a pseudo AVI with the virtual dub to get the subtitles permanently, i read that you down load that virtual dub, and then: 1) Frameserver needs to be installed -- inside VirtualDub's directory there's file called AuxSetup.exe, run that and it installs the frameserver support.

2) You need to also install the actual VFAPI codec found inside the package, there's a small .bat file that installs the codec. After you've done this, Dub can open the pseudo-AVI.
well, when i download that virtual dub the auxsetup. exe doesn't have something called "frame server" and then there's no file "*.bat" any where in my download, i have all day trying to do so, i feel very bad now! can you help me as i had 6 years old on this phase? can somebody answer me, i just did the whole download again and nothing happened.

*sigh*...

Run the auxsetup and it adds another function to VirtualDub that allows frameserving, the exe itself doesn't do anything else.

The VFAPIConvert and the bat we're talking now can be found from a package called "VFAPI Reader codec" -- you can find this from our software area.

ok, now i have major problems, i don't know what i'm doing wrong but now the vfapi readercodec doesn't write down the pseudo file any where in my pc,it says it will convert the file with the vfapi letters and it simply does not do that.

Now, are you even trying to follow the instructions?

-extract the VFAPI Reader codec package
-run the .bat file
-run the auxsetup.exe from VirtualDub's dir
-run the VFAPIConvert found from the place where you extracted the Reader Codec
-open the .d2v file and convert it
-open VirtualDub
-open the .AVI the converter created for you

...none of the files can be deleted before the process is completed -- not the VOBs, not the .d2v, not the pseudofile, nothing.

Hi.
I had the same problem.
But i solved this way.
Look in your VitualDub folder for a folder called aviproxy.
In that folder (aviproxy) run proxyoff.reg and the the VFAPConv will work.
IŽd did for mee anyway after many hours searching for the solution to the problem that the VFAPIConv would not write the pseudo.

Peter.
