V4 won't play PS2 backups

I jusst installed an Infinity chip on my V4. The installation is ok because when I turn the PS2 on I get the Matrix logo. I can play original games but when I insert a backup I get a disc error. I don't know why is that, can anyone help me please.

im not sure about matrix infinity but DMS chips need to be flashed to play backup games. u may need to do the same for ur chip.

Only if its an MI homebrew will it need to be flashed, otherwise the MI is flashed out of the gate to boot back-ups. Since its a V4 I would suspect the laser, that is if the CDVD patch points are correct. The bios points can be correct and the CDVD points incorrect and you will still see the MI logo.

Many people do not realize that recordable media is much more difficult for any laser to read then pressed originals. This is why a laser that boots originals may have trouble booting back-ups. The laser might not be good enough to read the data on the back-up seeing how the console is an old V4 which didnt come with a good laser to begin with. This is also why you want to use high quality recordable media for your back-ups.

Does the V4 boot CD-R PS2 back-ups or CD-R PS1 back-ups?
