Backing up "Season" DVD's

I have purchased the first and second season of "Friends". I'm looking to back these up as they cost a little bit of coin. I've heard they are a little / a lot different than regular movies. Could someone please point me to a guide / guides or articles that address this and applicable software required. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Download dvdshrink. Put the disk in the tray.
Compress.
Done.

I disagree, as usually. Someone kick me off this forum for disagreeing all the time. I too have friends on DVD. Beacuse of the large size of each disc, i did it like this:
- Rip the full contents of DVD 1 into folder Friends>DVD1>VIDEO_TS
- Rip the full contents of DVD 2 into folder Firends>DVD2>VIDEO_TS
- Repeat this for all the DVD's
Next decide upon what compression ratio you would like to use. I choose 30%.
- Open TMPGEnc DVD Author and select the first 3 episodes from the first disc. Perform TMPGEnc DVD Author to create the DVD and then burn.
- Follow on from there using the next 3 unitl you have finished.

Ugh Oripus likes "friends" too...
You Brits...
Frankly you could do the same with DVDShrink. I believe the episodal discs are cut up into one VOB each. Drag and drop the vobs and compress. You can have two or six episodes a disc if you like. I did this with DVD Shrink 1.3 and is probably even easier to do in 2.3

Thanks for the advice. There are two (2) DVD's per season. Is it possible to backup "as is" so that I too, only have two (2) DVD's per season? Reason I ask is that blank DVD media is very costly where I am and only have 5 to spare at this time. Or is the way Oriphus described it, telling / informing me of just that??
Sorry to be a pain. Just want to get it right the first time.!!

You should be able to compress the two "friends" dvds onto two blank dvds. HOwever you will have a lot of quality loss depending on how many episodes are on each disc.
Oriphus's method is to preserve the quality of each episode, nothing more.

Okay, DVD #1 down, #2 to go. I have ripped to my HDD using DVD Decrypter...then tried to use DVD2One to burn it however, it exceeds the storage limit of the DVD, then I tried using TMPGEnc DVD Author to only select the episodes (1 thru 6) however, still exceeds the storage size. Any way to compress it or rip it differently? Any thought to DVDCopy XPRESS? Would it do episodal DVD's? Oriphus:>You said that you set the compression for 30%, where was that option? I couldn't seem to find it in the newest version..?!

Thanks Oriphus,
I chose to use DVD Shrink v2.3 from link provided and it worked like a charm. Lots of guides to choose from as well. HUGE bonus. I tried using the IFOEdit program as well and that worked too however, was a much lengthier process. I'd probably use that as a last resort. Have you heard / seen anyone being sucessful using DVDXCopy or DVDXCopy Xpress to do episodal DVD's? I purchased these programs and find that in this instance...can't get my money's worth however...has done an AWESOME JOB with my full-length movies.

I tried DVDXCopy once to try and back up a few chapters of a damaged disc (which DVD Shrink could not do since it has to analyze the entire disc and the last two chapters were destroyed so DVD Shrink would hang on those last two chapters) but it screwed up the chapters really badly (it basically rearranged the chapters, which is not good). This may be rare but I have read about how DVDXCopy does not do well with episodal dvds.
