okay heres the deal: im playing my ps2 after like 3months. it took like half-hour finding it and i finally found it under a bunhc of wires and controllers. so i connect the cable (he one that goes from ps2 to the power outlet). i see the red dot on my ps2 indication its funtional. usually, when i start the system up, i just gently press the I/O button and it goes green(thus meaning i can play it up now). However, now when i press it, ihave to press hard and it feels like the button is jammed somehow(and it never turns green). btw, i have flip-top and i have slime ps2 version. Whats going on? should i open it up?
Thanks.

Hmm i'm no professional but if the screen is not showing and the light is green be sure your back wires are plugged correctly and tight and your tv is set to tv-video if you are using the yellow, red and white wires IF that is not the case then maybe you should open it to see if the power button is jammed in as when opening and closing up the ps2 i noticed it is very easy for it to move and or get stuck.

then, i decided to open up my ps2 but it didnt help. i tried moving some things around but didnt help. however, this was this one piece thats on the lower-right-corner of this which looks dark white on one side and on the other side has like a small motherboard attached to it; also attached to this is a few wires. anyways, when i oened my ps2, this seemed to bery VERY loose and wouldnt fit anywhere (i wasnt sure where it would go). further, when i opened the ps2, i found a extrmely small white peice of square plastic which had a white fat dot on top of it. i know the despciription is very cnofusing so i uploaded several pics:

caliph,
I think what you're refering to in picture "dsc04718" from your link, is the reset switch. Look like it's damaged. And your seems like the "small white peice of square plastic which had a white fat dot on top of it" broke off. The little square plastic is a button used for turning on the PS2.

nevermind i was able tofind the white piece. However, when i tired to stick it on the green powerswitch(between the 4 corner metals part), it wouldnt stick and lept falling off. so what i did was that i just placed the powerswitch where it should be placed on the ps2(it goes inside this small hole where the power switch stays locked in). Then i jjust placed the white small sqaure on the black part that was holding the power swtich. I didnt put the white saur directly on the power swtich, it just was able to make it touch. then, when i put the lid back on, this time, the power button was NOT jammed and i was able to press the I/O button to make the ps2 go green. However, the ps2 still stayed red and when i pressed it, it never turned green (i nly had the power switch plugged in at that time which goes fro mthe ps2 to the power outlet). I can make you a video of how i just loosely attached the white sqaure to the power button if you wish.

Caliph,
You cannot just stick the button back on to the reset switch and expect it to work. The button was soldered onto the reset switch. Save yourself the headache and purchase one off of ebay.com. This is where I bought mines http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PS2-SLIM-RESET-S...QQcmdZViewItem. I Recieved mines within four days. If link is expired, then search for "PS2 RESET SWITCH" on ebay.
Hope this helps.

ZOOOM,
The switch is good and low priced no doubt, but it's third party and cheap. I bought that exact one previously and it broke on me within a week and a half of having it. Maybe I just happen to recieved one of the defective ones, who knows.
CALIPH,
I'm pretty sure it's the reset switch. By the look on the pictures you've posted, I do know and can tell you that the reset switch is broken. Mines looked exactly like the one in the picture that why I replaced it and got it to work again. And yes we are talking about replacing the switch on the slim. The switch on the fat looks totally different.
This is how it should look http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/291...host=good-times
This is how yours look http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/255...host=good-times
Hope this helps.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!
Ok, so last week i got my ps2 modded with a matrix green dot. i gave the guy JUST the motherboard and chip. the installation was VERY well done, but the wires were taped in bunches. the soldering was perfect, but he soldered the H point, which it doesnt say to connect. i put in the upgrade disk. then i got the red screen "please insert a ps2/ps2 disk" so i put in a backup. red screen again. so i put in som originals. they all worked fine. i checked all the solder points. perfect. so i disconnected the H point. the same results. tryed 5 types of top notch media. not matter what i do, the same result. its acting like an unmodded ps2. what do i do? the chip is genuine, the seldering is great, but the chip has never worked.
