Anyone own a Japanese PS3? Region question.

My question is: Is there any way to change the region settings? I cant play US movies or PS2 games. And 2nd question is can I reverse the circle and the x buttons?


I bought a PS3 off Craigslist (big mistake)

Turns out its a Japanese Model stuffed in a US Box.

So basically im stuck with this unit.

dont even sweat it, the ps3 games should work fine regionfree arent they? so go 4 gold and if u are unhappy still sell the 1 u got now for twice wat u bought it 4 in the same box u got it in and scam some1 else and get a US one lol

PS3s are region free so you will be able to play games from any region on any ps3... just change the language during set-up to english and you'll be fine...

They are region free for PS3 games but not Ps2 as you say.

Region code of the console is set.

Pretty bad ATM for different region backward compatability.

As it stands just now yes, all PS3 games thus far are region free and English is available in the language settings, very similar layout to PSP.

The downside at the moment is you can't play different region ps2 games on the PS3.

it is region free for agmes but playing dvd on that unit must be within that region only. hope this help

Why is it that US PS3 games are marked Region 1??

If the games wrok though, that's all that matters. Anyways, you can just get a cheap $20 DVD player and a PS2. If it were me, I'd prefer the Japanese console. Those are made in Japan. The US is made in China.
