My dvd-rom drive will not recognize The Da Vinci Code. It tells me nothing is in the drive. Does this have anything to do with my drive being set on region 1?
Thanks,
Mike

That could be one of the reasons. You can go and change the reasons by right clicking on the drive and going into the properties and then changing the region in there. Or you can update the firmware for your drive by going to either of these two sites.

The Firmware Page
http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php

or

The Dangerous Brothers
http://tdb.rpc1.org/

You should find your drive listed in there.

Good luck :)

Depends on what region you are in - Region 1 OK for USA - other countries use different region code.

It's set on region 1 and I tried the region free software and that didn't work either. I guess I'll have to try a firmware update. Any other suggestions?

The other thing you can even try but it will cost. Try getting AnyDVD that will get rid of the region issues. Also you can even use DVD Shrink and that makes the movie region gee when compressing.

Thanks for the replys, but it appears my POS drive is going bad. Out of the blue the DVD started working, but now I can't get others to work. Oh well, time for a new drive.

I usually have very few problems with making backups. The last time I did updating the firmware for the burner seemed to help.

I recently bought the DaVinci Code, and while using DVD Decrypter to read I get an error message stating

"On-the-fly ifo Bup file patching failed
file name VTS_19_0.Bup
Size 61440 bytes
Reason:invalid IFO/BUPfile"

I click on the ok button, and i get a similiar message but for VTS_20_0.BUP

Then it says operation complete.

What does this mean, is there anything I can do about it?

Though DA VINCI CODE has the latest ARccOS, both DVDFAB Decrypter and RipIt4Me can handle it flawlessly.

NOTE: I've tested these 2 methods and it worked like a charm.

<1> DVDFAB Decrypter 3.0.3.8Beta (FREE & simple) http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
<2> RipIt4Me (FREE & simple)

Method 1: DVDFAB guide
DVDFAB Decrypter +DVD Shrink + ImgBurn guide Just skip STEP #2 (VobBlanker), unless DVD Shrink is throwing up (or having issue) or you're an advanced user and know what/where to blank out.

Method 2: RipIt4Me guide
Here RipIt4Me +DVD Shrink + ImgBurn full guide Just follow this guide slowly and you'll be able to rip any DVDs around the world.

Enjoy the new guide.

DVDFAB Decrypter will rip in 2 Modes; "Full Disc" or "Main Movie". If you want don't want to transcode via DVD Shrink, then simply have DVDFAB Decrypter rip the DVD as Full Disc into HD. Once it's completed just burn your VIDEO_TS folder/file using a DVD+R DL with either Nero Burning Rom, Nero Express or ImgBurn.
