well I decided to get swap disc for my slim ps2 since its newer and runs smoother. So i get it Saturday put all the tools in stick in the SM 3.8 DVD doesnt work so i figure out it may have been that shipment from China that were defective. Ive gotten it to boot like 2/100 times. (emailed them like twice in the past 3 days and no reply so im guessing they are blowing me off). But anyways I go to play one of my legit games and it wont boot I just get "The disc could not be read.". I also hear alot of clicking. So my questions are:

1) Anyway to fix this? (already tried cleaning lens)
2) Do you think the defective SM 3.8 DVD screwed up my laser?

Could just be your ps2 and not the swap magic, try it in another ps2. A disk cant really screw up your ps2. Very unlikely.
