hello i have a scph50001 ps2, the ps2 got mesed up when i put in a reall bad backup of a badly conditioned dvd after swapping and pressing x, the ps2just got messed up. so i opened it up and cleaned the lens. i kept doing it over and over, nothing happened and soon the discs stopped spinning and the laser stopped blinking, but the laser still alligns itself to its original position if i move it up.... so yea any suggestions or pictures would really a big help and for all having the same probblem with this, and the version of this ps2

How do you know the lens is blinking? You're not looking into it are you?
Your laser could be fried maybe!

You need a new laser then.
Plenty of sites do them (just google) or you could try ebay.
Make sure you get one for the right version.

I only have this to say: throw your Version 9 out the door. That, and the Version 10 are the worst of the fat PlayStation 2s to own. There's a chip in there that's a laser-killer(the LA chip), which is responsible for your broken drive. 1 of 3 things could have happened:
1- Your LA chip is damaged due to it overheating.
2- Your laser's coils are burnt.
3- Your ribbon cable is so badly damaged your drive and LA chip are broken.
If you have some money(not sure how much this version costs), find yourself a Version 7, identified as model number SCPH-39001.
