I've got a matrix infinity and it plays everything I've got.
I would suggest having a chip professionally installed if you want one.

matrix chips don't have the lifespan of other top of the line chips and are cloned far to often, clones result in a burnt out chip when you try to flash the BIOS. if you go with the infinity make sure it's a green dot version. my suggestion would be the DMS4 Pro SE

http://www.swapmagic3.com/Swap_Magic_Where_To_Buy.asp

Actually its quit the opposite. The DMS4 is the chip that will burn out especially with its poor flash that fails and low grade clock that results in the 2x reset issue.
Yes the Infinity has many clones but if you get a true Infinity you will have nothing to worry about. I do wish they would address the clone issue though, maybe with a new chip ;-)
Your best bet would be the MI or CC2.0 at this point no chip is better perios.

to each his own but I've modded over a thousand PS2's and of them greater then 75% with a DMS chip, not a single chip related problem with them going on 2 yrs now with the SE versions. the infinity's greendot on the other hand I've had a few dozen chips that just didn't last.

I've done more then you nener-nener-neeeennner LOL
Well I have only had 1 MI die on me EVER! and more then I can count with the DMS4. Guess you have had bad luck with the MI when no one else does ... unlike the DMS4 which is know to be the most poorly designed chip on the market. Too bad seeing how its software is soooo nice :-(

it's that the DMS chips are not tolerant of halfassed installations with 30 awg power/gnd wires or installations that look like a pot of spaghetti poured out on the MOBO, they are a ton more 'sensitive' then the MI but thats why they make such a great chip, they are 100% reliable boot EVERY time and you just can't beat Toxic OS :)
as so often proved in forums like this one, anybody can install a MI, it takes a pro to put a DMS in.

True that but even a pro cant get around the known and documented flaws with the DMS4 chips.
