I have a question for some experts in the video realm for this one. My friend and I are going to create a music video in which she will be lipsynching the song. Some of the song we are going to have a slideshow of pictures to be edited into the video as well. I want to know what software can accomplish 1. Putting the audio in the background to the video we create. 2. Software that will let us add slideshows of pictures into our video, and 3. software that will create us a nice little credits screen at the end. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

i have a feeling you can do all of this with Sony Vegas.
Have a browse on the Sony product site to confirm your requirements.

I will have a look as well as soon as I finish some work :)

Use VirtualDub to delete the audio stream and then put yours back in.

You can do all that on Windows Movie maker, Lol. Nothing too snazzy, but it does the job for you and is easy to use ;-)

I'm not an "expert" but The suggestion: windows movie Maker...i'd go with it..and this is why.

The Credits/Text animations; In truth just about any video editing software will do what you want...but I've tested a bunch of them looking for easy Text animation effects. As Free/simple/basic as WMM is...it's still real strong in the easy/but cool text effects. And it's packaged in with you Windows(FREE)! The other intermedately priced editing packages Focus on better Transitions/video effects but are weak on the text effects...you don't get Great text effects until you get up the price tag of Premiere/ After Effects/ Avid Liquid and such. You really only have one audio....your music ..unless you are mixing 2 audio sources( you said background audio)..in which case WMM wouldn't work..only one audio source.

sounds like a sweet project...what song may I ask is she going to lipsync to? I use to make custom music videos' on the side while Inturning at a PBS-TV station...back before the "digital" revolution.(3/4 in UMatic Tape). Suggestion; Be sure she can "hear" the music while video taping her...then just blank out that audio..and replace with the Studio Rip of the song....it will be easier to sync the lipsync.
