HELP! MY XBOX360 WON'T PLAY ORIGINALS

I don't know what kind of mod I have on my XBOX, but I got it done by a local who does it for 20 bucks. And it's been about 3 or 4 months but I can't remember exactly when I got it done, But my problems is that, a friend brought his game Gears of war ORIGINAL copy, and it didn't seam to work on my xbox360. I'm practically a newbie at this stuff that's why I had someone do the mod for me. I thought I'm aloud to play orignal games also with the backups? Is there something I don't know? Please help. I feel like my XBOX360 is broken now *sigh* Is this a normal problem?

It's a normal problem on older firmware with Tiger Woods 07 and Gears of War. Get your "friend" to update the firmware to the latest version. 4.2a/b for Samsung and 2.3 Revision 2 for Hitachi 360 drives.

The XBOX360 is actually mines, and does it only do that to those games? And how exactly do I update my firmware, is it simple? because like I said I did pay a local to do it for me. If it only does it to those games, then it wouldn't be a problem for me. But yeah, how do I update my firmware?

I got the same problem with mine didnt want to play my original GOW( make a backup from the game and burn it with clone cd and then deliver the game back)

So far it's only those 2 games but more could be coming with the fake ss.bin file. Best to just update the firmware. There's many guides around this site.

I still don't understand why I can't play Gears Of War after my friend bought it at the store, then brought it over to play on my modded xbox360. Why won't my XBOX360 play this game that he just bought from the store? (the game is not a back up. it was bought from the store)

Because your MODDED 360 contains OLD firmware which won't allow certain RETAIL games to be played on a MODDED 360.
