HELP WITH XBOX LIVE

ok, so when i set up my xbox live, all i have is a switch for the internet modem to my xbox. and all my other cords and junk. i got it to connect to live, but then my computer internet breaks down. then once i reset my modem, my computer works and then the xbox live wont signin. so its one or the other type situation. i cant get both my internet and live to work at once...help anybody>?

I don't know exactly what is wrong here or what gear you have but if the help I give is wrong or you've already tried it just send me more info. So to get to it: try using a router, without any type of switch on it, from your cable or dsl modem. This way you can have your PC and Xbox work at the same time. Also I forget what it is called but your connection may not have enough bandwidth to cover both, it is a lack of data transfering capabilities.
