i erased everything from my hard drive i need help on where to get the files for the ms dashboard and how to FTP them back with a crossover cable. i have never used FTP befor so try to explain in good detail, please. i have tryed to make a bootdisk but that didnt work. so someone please help me with trying to ftp

you earased your whole hard drive?
I really hope you have a mod chip installed because if not you will be in for a world of hurt.

If you have a mod chip then get Slayer 2.7
download it and burn the ISO to a DVD
stick it in your Xbox and reset the xbox and it should load
from there you want to format the drive, if it is the stock drive that would be "retail", if it is not then you chose large hard drive.
After you do that you will have options to install EvoX on C:
and then after that an option to install all other apps to F:
then you should have everything back.
