Reformatting a PS2 Memory card to PSX

I've got a bunch of spare PS2 8MB memory cards but no PSX memory cards. So I was wondering if there's any way to reformat one of the PS2 8MB cards to act as a PSX memory card.
Normally I'd just assume this was impossible, seeing as the PSX has about as much hope of reading a PS2 memory card as it does reading a PS2 game, but I'm playing my PSX games via a PS2 so the hardware should be able to pick it up.

Sorry to bump so soon but I forgot to add what sort of tools I have at my disposal.
I'd really like to find a burnable DVD or CD that contains a homebrew tool that can reformat a memory card to the format of your choosing.

Anyway, here's what I've got to work with;
-8MB PS2 Memory Cards (x3)
-PS2 Slimline (with Modbo chip)
-PS2 Fat Model (not modded, so it's probably not much use here)
-PC with network card and CD/DVD burner.
