no matter how much i try i can not get this thing to work. Im using my laptop which has a wirelesss connection, and a ethernet yellow cable. I go to network connections look at the internet protocol properties and it obttains the op address automatically. I do not know which numbers to use. i go to run command ipconfig and this popps up.(the slashes represents number i dont want to give out)
ip address-172.--.-.--
subnet-255.255.0.0
default gateway-172.--.-.-

can someone please for the love of god tell me what numbers i need to use in the ipconfig.dat to make this freakin program work. I look at guides and they are all wrong. I need someone who knows. I really need this to work because my enclosure broke, or i would not be doing these methods. I just need to know what numbers to put into the ipconfig.dat so that i can put it on my memory card in a folder called FAPLINK start the elf file, then when it says ready, and i want it to work when i click on the windows program. I want it to stop saying error connecting and freakin work. So if someone knows what im doing wrong help. Ive tried leaving the ps2 default ip address and puitting my ip address as the gateway mask. Ive tried putting my cpu's ip address as the first number and leaving everything else default. I mean i have tried every possible combination and im looking for some help. So if someone once again knows what number i need to put where then please tell me. Thank you in advance for the help

No offense but i doubt highly that all the guides are wrong. It is more likely something that you are not doing correctly.

i know the person who wrote this so i am 100% sure it is correct.

setting up a network can be tricky as many things like Antivirus software or firewalls can stop you from making a connection. Also things like not eneabling network sharing on your connection can stop it.

for the IP address you usually want to use a number in the same range as the main connection. If you are running just to a laptop that is one thing. but if that laptop gets it's connection from a desktop PC wireless router that is another thing.
But generally if the ip for the computer was something like
192.168.1.100
then the PS2 could be set up with 192.168.1.101 if no other device is using that IP address. The subnet mask, Default gateway and DSN addresses should match the connection you are trying to connect to.
