PSX gameshark mod question

I'm a bit of a n00b to console modding, but can I use a PSX gameshark to load PSX games on my original(IE not the small one) and possibly a non-slim PS2? I'm sorry if this question has been asked a million times but I looked and couldn't find an answer to my question. Thanks :)
