I have been using Sony and Verbatim DVD-R's forever. I burn my DVD's at 4X speed. My question is if its safe to burn at 8X speed, or keep it at 4X, even though the DVD's state burning at 16X max speed.

Thank You for your comments.

Burning at 1/2 the rated speed of your media is actually what's recommended if you want to be safe, so if you've got disks rated for 16X it should be just fine to burn at 8X speed.
