Hi,

I have helped many of you here on this forum couple of years ago regarding moding the original xbox.

I am about to start and attempt to mode the xbox 360. I am fairly new at the xbox 360. so please bear with me and help me understand better. any help is greatly appreciative. And please don't tell me to search the forum for my answers. I have helped many people before, so please return the favors for me. Thanks!

What I got is xbox 360 with Samsung drive.

1. what the heck is ms25 or ms28? how can I identify this on my xbox 360?

2. I just downloaded the extreme firmware 42ab. When I unzipped it, I got two bin files (xtrem42a.bin and xtrem42b.bin) Which one do I use?

3. if I have ms28, can I still update the firmware? or do I have to do something special for ms28?

4. which tools/software do I need to achieve this firmware update?

Please help me. As I will return the favors here by helping others after I have successfully updated my xbox 360 dvd firmware.

Many Thanks!

Cheers!

1) The ms25 and the ms28 are the models of the samsung and u can find the model out by opening ur box and looking at the label sticked to the dvd drive

2)Put Xtrem42b.bin, X360SAM.exe and an edited MTKFLASH.EXE & MTKFLASH.TYP

3)yes u can and i THINK u have to edit the notepad file in the mtkflash directory and write down sata...i have a link to this tut but i cant post it...look in ur pm's

4)if ur using the usb then u must format with the HP Usb Disk Storage Format Tool which can be found on the internet...

reply if u need help :)

Well first you need to know if you're pc will flash the 360 drive. Did you happen to read up on any tutorials, first? You left out alot of detail.

As for the 4.2a-b. It's 2 different firmwares. You have to choose which firmware you want to install. The difference is stated in the nfo with the firmware download.

Basically,
- 4.2a is fast-read mode by default for backups. This means faster loading but more errors if crappy media is used.

- 4.2b is slow-read mode by default for backups. This means slower loading but may help fix some crappy media burns.
