I've followed the steps at:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/399310
and got the devhook up and running, everything seems fine but every time i try to select an iso file and launch it it just goes black for a sec and then dumps me back to the main interface (this time with a red background and the 2.71fw included in the installation package)
any ideas on what i'm doing wrong?

i've tried selecting both the 2.71 (flash) and the 2.71 fw from the devhook and tried with a UMD (loco roco) and without UMD inserted.
with 2.71 (flash) it crashes to black scren, with 2.71 it just dumps me back to the red background anime style wallpapered psp main interface screen..
do i need another loader or something to make the games on my ms show up in the games menu or should they launch directly from the devhook?

as far as i can tell, i used the "easier way", ie. downloaded the full setup kit and extracted it to the root, henc worked (updated to hend to be sure), both seem ok, i can boot to 1.5 via devhook but if i try to launch an iso it wont work.. just dumps me back to the xmb

the only thing in the tut i could not get to work (because i dont understand what i should do) is this:
"
4.hold the HOME[/bold} button for three sec then use the analog to move,ok now set these final settings
move the analogstick right in text font to enter, put the cursor on internal font then move the analogstick left to go back.
now put the cursor on status layout and move the analogstick right and choose ICON/HALF SCREEN then move the analogstick right to apply.done
"
since at this point the PSP is rebooting, so what's the use to hold the home key? and i couldnt get into any analogstick control situation where i could do anything with it

Select the UMD icon, as if you where running a UMD. It maybe that its taking you back to the emulated XMB, and not auto running the ISO.

sudds, do you mean the "BOOT SELECT" menu option?
under this there are the options:
reboot XMB
reboot UMD (1.50 only)
load run UMD (1.50 only)
MPHGL (1.50 only)
RunUMD (1.50 only)
did you mean one of these?

My guess is that you have selected REBOOT XMB if this is the case all you gotta do is scroll to the CONTROLLER ICON and select the UMD icon and your ISO will run.

no, i got it sorted.. you could put a mention about this in your guide, that if you just end up back in the xmb with no umd icon to start the mounted ISO image -> insert any game umd into the drive and the icon will show up but it will not launch the inserted umd, it will launch the one you mounted from devhook
also, earlier i mentioned a step in your guide that i could not complete since it made no sense to me, could you expand on that?

Okay I need EVERYONES help!
This is messed up. Okay I got HEND with the 1.5 dump that was in another thread here that add the HENC bundle. Anyways I got the blue and green flash and now I am at 1.5.
My problem is I CANNOT get ISO's to run!! I dont know what is wrong though.
I cannot even get DEVHOOK0.4x launcher for 2.71 to run!! It just says "The game could not be started" WTF I updated properly. Why the fack can't it run.
BUT!!
If I use "DEVHOOK0.46 launcher" it friggin goes in the menu.
So I do this...
1. UMD Start
2.PICK my ISO
3. choose Image + ANYUMD or Image NOUMD (1.5 only)
4.Choose start
5. Go to UMD. I see the damn game!!!
6. Select the game....waits
7. Says "The game could not be started"
WTF is wrong? Why the heck can DEVHOOK for 2.71 cannot work?
Guys I need your help! THANKS VERY MUCH.

faile sure i will edit that part and the one that i mention is just to change the devhook font color and background of the font color.
example when in emukated firmware hold home 3 secs and u will see the menu rite.this menu the font color and background of the font color can be changed.and i uploaded a new easy installer with news features check it out.
radeonboy what game are you playing.coz it could be the iso instead of the devhook.

I have tried Lumines and the new Sonic.
The new sonic advises me to update firmwares to play.
But that doesnt answer why I cannot run DEVHOOK0.4x for 2.71. I am only able to use DEVHOOK 0.46

first of all, hijacking threads is not polite :)
second, you dont need to downgrade to 1.5 to run isos, that's just if you want to run homebrew software.
if you want to use isos, run the henc/hend, let the psp reboot, launch devhook
mount the iso you like, select 2.71 as the firmware and press start
once you're back in the XMB (now red background), select the UMD icon and launch the iso you mounted earlier (if no UMD icon is showing, insert any game UMD you have and the icon will pop up, launch that, it will launch the mounted image, not the inserted UMD)

Sorry about hijacking...I thought it would be nicer to use a thread which talks about the same thing, than make a entirely new thread saying the same thing.
The problem I have is that I dont see any red anime screen which others are talking about, and DEVHOOK 0.46x for 2.71 WON'T run the second time in 1.5 emulation. It only works for Devhook 0.46 and when I select my UMD, I see the game but it says cannot start game.

ok, just running HENC/HEND will not drop the psp back to 1.5fw, it will just enable running homebrew (which devhook is).
if you do this:
1. run henc/hend
2. let the psp reboot
3. run devhook
and devhook will not run, then you have a faulty devhook installation, did you copy the contents of the devhook package to the *root* of your memstick and not the "MS_ROOT" directory? you should *not* copy anything directly into the MS_ROOT, follow the steps in the readme.
