I was just wondering. I thought about how much space I could save if I could play games from an external hd using usbadvance or hdloader. so....would my ps2 ever be able to play games from a Western Digital 250 GB My Book External Hard Drive? heres a link: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4898007

with the western digital drive it would just be better to run it externally cause if you want to put it in the ps2 hdd slot you hafta do some modding. just getcha a copy of usb extreme and then put the ps2 games on the hdd via winhiip.

-v7 PS2 (needs new motherboard) w/ dms 4 chip
-i386 w/ 2 80gb hdd dual booting WINXP and DEBIAN 4.0 "ETCH"

If you have a fatps2 go with the internal drive and hdloader

You can buy Swapmagic/Slide Card use that to create a Memory Card Exploit and run Hdloader that way...

Good thing about having Swapmagic instead of just buying Hdloader is that if a game isn't compatible with Hdloader you can always backup to disc and use Swapmagic to play...

which is better? external or internal? im getting 2 different answers. I dont want to mod my ps2 again so I'd rather have external but is internal that much better? I have swap magic so incompatable games isnt a problem to me.

internal is best

only 10% of games are compatible with UsbAdvanced / UsbExtreme and an External drive
while 75%+ are compatible with Hdloader and internal drive

Hdloader has faster loading times than UsbAdvanced / UsbExtreme while UsbAdvanced / UsbExtreme loads as fast as a cd or dvd if not slower

that may be so but what about usb-extreme with external hd? that seems almost as good as internal hd with hdloader am I wrong? The site says usb-extreme is compatable with around 75% of games too and can be compatable with up to 100% with specific patches. but if im wrong i'll reconsider the internal hd.

I think when he said hdadvance he meant usbadvance/usbextreme (Same thing).

From what Ive heard usbadvance/extreme has shocking compatibility and is like 10% compatible with games. And hdloader and internal is like 78%

Check here for usb extreme compatible games...
