I've been reading about the PS2 "PS1 Driver exploit" and I plan to try it, but I have several questions first.
I have:
--------------------------------
PS2 Fat
Action Replay Max
USB Flash Drive
External USB HDD
PS1 and PS2 Origonal Games
PS1 and PS2 Memory Cards
--------------------------------
Can I save PS1 and PS2 games to the external hdd and load them?
Is there a way to make it boot to an elf file such as pgen.elf?
Can I save genisis games on the memory card?
What can PS2 Linux do?
Can I play AVI and MPG videos?
Can I play an mp3 cd from boot?
The Xbox has a program to rip dvds to the hdd. Can the ps2 do this?
What else can it do?
Please tell me everything you can about this exploit.
Since you have the Action Replay Max with the usb drive (correct? the usb flash drive is the one that came with the AR max?)
You can use it's media player to play pretty much any elf files off the usb flash drive.
Which means you can run Hdloader/Hd Advance to run games off your internal harddrive (which I suggest since you have a fat ps2, and in all honesty, playing games off a usb harddrive sucks).
As for the PS1 driver exploit, I think you are referring to the MC Exploit? Where you use a ps1 disk to run an exploit on the mc card?
Yes, it's doable, and all in all, very easy, since you don't have to make the stupid boot disk for it (because you can just run the elf file off the usb flash drive).
You can't play PSX games off of the hd, only ps2 (and not all).
I'm not sure about save games from other systems & emulators.
You'd have to buy the PS2 Linux, because it requires a special boot disk, that no one's been able to copy so far, I guess.
I think you can play AVI & mpg videos using your ARMax. If not, you can run an elf program that can.
Not sure about playing an mp3 cd from boot, but you can play it using probably armax, but defiently 3rd party software.
and yes, the ps2 has programs that will let you rip the game to the harddrive, actually a few different ways to do it, depending on how much trouble you want to go through for better speeds.
As for how to do this, if you check out the forums, at the top are some topics that are "stickied" that has the info on how to do the different stuff.
If you have some specific questions, just ask, and hopefully I or someone can help you.
Everything I've said is based off the presumption that the Action Replay Max came with the USB Flash drive you mentioned. If it didn't, then you have to make a boot disk for the mc exploit.
oh, also, you are going to need a slide tool, so you can swap disks without the ps2 knowing.
There's a few links for it, just not sure what they are at the moment.
