Hi all, just wondering if anyone else is having trouble trying to get call of duty 3 to work???.
Tried rebuilding using genie software and cd/dvdgen but the game still skips and stutters, using Sony DVD+R accucore disks.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Take care.

Hmmm, I burnt this on my fujifilm 2nd class media disk at half the speed which was 8x WITHOUT rebuilding and had no problems besides it freezing up everytime i saved the game but i have heard a bunch of people have the same problem, otherwise there was not skipping so my only question is..... what speed are you burning it with and what is the max speed on the disc ?
Also maybe you should try loading with zoneloader or cdloader after swapmagic as i have heard many people get better results.

Thanks for the reply, the drive is a lite-on and can only burn at max x2.4, the discs can be written to at max x16. I will give the zoneloader a try, hopefully someone may come up with something. Either that or a new burner???....
Anyone else have any probs with this game.

Jima I backedup COD3 and had no problems. I have a Lite-On DVD writer and i'm burning at 6x using Alcohol 120%. I did not rebuild the game I just made a ISO then burnt it to a Maxell DVD-R, using Alcohol 120%. I am using SM 3.6 with, I do not have to us ZoneLoader or any thing eles. You may want to try doing this I have had no skipping no stutters and no saving problems. Good Luck.

Hey just started using the swap magic 3.6 and i had burned two games:1st Socom Combined Assault and 2nd Call of Duty 3. I used DVD Decryptor to burn them at 4x speed, the dvds max speed is 16x and i think my dvd burner is 8x. So i tired the socom:CA and it remain a black screen when i started the special boot, i have herd that there is more luck with zoneloader for SCA but ill try that later and than i tried Call of Duty 3 on special boot and the screen remaind black and the disk only spun for lik 2 seconds so i tried regular boot and the screen stayed black but the disk kept spinning?? Is it the media i am using thats screwed up, is it my swap magic(which i am running of hdloader patched .8b if that is the dilemma)

You do not need to use special boot for this game. Just use regular boot. As for the black screen and the disk spinning, i'm pretty shure that is your media, but you never know. I have seen this game burnt to Memorex and Maxell and they both worked. But others have said that they have burnt it to other types of media and got it to work. I could not get it to work on Memorex but it worked in my buddies PS2 slim using SM 3.6.

it fails on the autosave because you are using a mod method that doesn't support multiple authentication of the media (just like a multi disc game that doesn't support a save before disc swap) some versions of SM support multi disc and all your top chips do. i install and use DMS4 Pro SE chips with Toxic OS 0.41 and neither i nor any of my customers have problems with this game at any stage even with autosave enabled. for those having problems with the autosave freezing, just remove the memory card and disable the autosave till you're done playing then reinsert your MC and save before you turn it off.
myself i only use Taiyo Yuden discs and i do all my burning with ImgBurn, I've burned literally thousands of discs and never a single coaster. failed burns are most often from not having the burner firmware up to date or the use of inferior media. i burn all discs at 16x and have many with hundreds of hours of play on them without a single glitch.

IF your burner firmware is up to date and supports the media you are using then the burner isn't the problem most likely.
there are any number of reasons a burner my be lacking, your PC may not have the balls to deliver the data to it (bottle necking on the IO bus) and if the power supply is at near maximum capacity then the burner may not have the power it requires to develop full laser current and this gives under burn of the ink regardless of speed.
the slower the speed the less power the laser uses BUT a high speed DVD-/+R has ink that is designed to be burnt at a minimum of 4x and burning at 2.4x can cause burn trough. with your burner not supporting a 4x speed buy only discs rated at a max of 8x speed.
as far as drives I've used Pioneer sense they came out, they were the first to hit the market with a DVD burner and I've now owned several of them and have no complaints from any of them, i still use a single layer DVR-105 and a dual layer DVR-110D for all my burning and I've burnt several thousand discs on each.
lastly lasers get dirty and require cleaning, the more contaminated the environment they are used in the more often they should be cleaned. smokers who smoke around their drives should clean them even more regularly and even stop smoking :)

I Have some Memorex DVD+R, ill try them and get back to you if they do work. And does it realy matter if i am using SM 3.6 on an older fat ps2:) sorry i am not sure what version my ps2 is, i think it was the last fat version ps2 that was released:)

No it dose not matter as long as you have a flip top or a door slid tool. SM 3.6 works fine on the fat PS2. I could not get the Memorex to work on my fat PS2, it just skipped. But it may work on yours if you have the PS2 you think you have becouse it would be a newer version then mine. Hope you get it working it is a good game.

There is a reason people who do allot of burning refer to that name brand of disc as 'Memorsux' instead of Memorex, get you some Yuden's and eliminate any possibility that it's a media issue.

I've never tried the 0.8 'fully patched' so i can't comment but the 0.7 'fully patched' was never fully patched and had a ton of compatibility issues therefore i patched my own open version and had allot better results.
You'd be wasting your time with the Toxic OS, it's only compatible with the DMS4 Pro SE chip. FWIW the messiah is a bit 'out of date' as far as a chip goes.

with hdloader 0.8b i play all the games that i want except splinter cell double agent, hdloader 0.8b its better than hdloader 0.7
but with hdloader 0.8 to play scarface, reservoir dogs , and urban chaos i need to use ultraiso to edit the system.cnf file
now i only need the chip to read the cd of hdloader 0.8 to boot the hdd

KC, still no joy with Call of Duty 3, flashed my Lite-On dvdrw drive sohw-802s to a sohw-832s which allows for faster burning speeds and burned the game at x6 without rebuild. Works flawlessly upto final cutscene where soldiers are marching in a group just before mission starts then the stuttering and freezing starts again.
I've now wasted about 8-10 discs on this should i just give up or is there anything else i could possibly try???
Sorry for being a pain, i dont doubt the game will work if i could get past the initial cutscenes.
Thanks once again to all.

my only other suggestion would be to try your disc's that you've burned on another console with a different mod and see if the problem persists. i don't recall what mod method you are using.
