You can download themes for XP but be careful of New.Net, NewDotNet, and other providers of that nature. They are considered spyware and very hard to get rid of. If you have a legitimate theme, then after you run it through WinZIP you should have an installation program that starts.

Edit your post to read, "all f*!d up". You are not suppose to cuss in the threads.

Next maybe try to download the theme again. You may have received a corrupt copy. I don't know what the them is or where you got it so it is hard for me to walk you through it.

It appears that you must create a series of folders. I am not sure that the theme I tried to install was the same one as you did. It told me that I did not have a folder (I didn't write down the name) but there were several folders that were suppose to be there! I read on the site that the setup was complete and that you had to do nothing. I'm gonna look at the site again and see if I can come up with an answer.

I found this under the help area.
Quote:

You need to patch a small file named uxtheme.dll in Windows XP in order to load unsigned themes and visual styles. There are three ways to do this:

1. Use a theme manager program that patches your uxtheme.dll file automatically. We recommend styleXP from TGT Soft.

2. Use a stand-alone patcher. Try the free Multi-Patcher.

3. If patching fails, replace your uxtheme.dll file manually with one that is already patched.

All of the above support the Original release of XP, XP SP1 and the new SP2. Once your uxtheme.dll file is patched, download and extract your selected theme to C:WindowsResoucesThemes and then find and double-click the .msstyles or .theme file in the extracted folder to load the theme.

TIP: If the theme only came with a .msstyles file, it won't show up under Themes in Display Properties. You can fix this by loading up the theme by clicking the .msstyles file. When it shows you a preview of the theme in Display Properites, click the 'Save As' button and save it under a unique name. It will now show up under the Themes tab in Display Properties under that name!
