Hey, found a site with these for $25, not a bad deal i figure, and its cool that it brings the action replay on board - anyone have this version, and can tell me how the memory card exploit it advertises works? can you just boot it up with a memory card file, without having the disc in, or wha? Id appreciate it.

Ive heard that 3.8 has problems now and then.
SM 3.6+ sounds better.
But if you really need the codes then go hards.
And about the mem card thing. It doesnt mean that it will load swap magic from your mem card with no cd. It means that it will load homebrew from the mem card that you have installed when you insert swap magic.

well, the codes were a cool freebie, but if 3.8 is supposed to be buggy, it might not be worth it.
alright, so uh, how do i go about installing homebrew, and what happens when i do? if i still need the disc to boot up swap magic, what's the purpose of (from their site):
Launch Swap Magic Coder from your memory card or USB device
? cause for me, that was the whole advantage. my case/old ps2 kinda work but im one of the guys who has to hold the fliptop down and hope it boots swap magic, its kind of a pain, so i thought this memory card launch'd be ideal, but youre saying that's not what it is, at least in 3.6?

Are you able to link me to that page where they say that.
From the swapo magic site it says,
"Launch program from memory card."
"It can launch program from memory card"
I really doubt SM coder can do that without putting a single cd/dvd in. But I would be definately be surprised if it can.

Well, ive got a flip top and an older version that works with it, so i think ill be alright, just need the disc - hoping to see if anyone else knows about the "boot from the memory card" part, as again, itd be a lot more convenient than holding down the top and hoping it loads.

Xplaya, could you specify what sort of "problems" have been reported for Swap Magic 3.8?

I think I read some info on this site, but its been ages now.
Basically we didnt quite find out if it was a 3.8 problem or a bad dispatch. So dont really know. (It could have been a dispatch problem)
So dont take my word for it. Im sure 3.8 is working for heaps of people out there.
:) Go hards.

Cool, but...does anyone here have/use 3.8?
Im still interested in hearing about the "launches from a memory card" thing before i buy, so it'd really helpful.

Honestly "TheNick"
There is no way that the ps2 will be programed to boot from the memory card without putting a disc in or some kind of modchip, even if you put a special file onto the memory card I dont think a normal ps2 is programmed to load a file from the mem card on boot up. Thats what the ps1 exploit does. Unless someone has found another exploit, I really doubt that swap magic can be loaded straight from the mem card without putting a disc in it.
