My PS2 has stopped playing all DVDs! Please Help

It will not play DVD games (either back-ups or originals) or DVD movies. This happened all of sudden, I was playing one game and took it out to play another and it wouldn't load. I have since tried just about every game or movie I own with no luck. It is a V4 with a no-solder mod chip that has been modded for over a year with no problems.

Could be a dead dvd diode, or its probably gone weak. Have you tried cleaning the laser?
If you have and it doesnt make a difference, then keep the system open and place a dvd disk in the drive, check to see when its trying to read it if a red laser is visible, if yes, the laser diode is gone weak, it can be tweaked up a little, to get it to work, but eventually it will die out, if it doesnt light, then you have a dead laser.
