Hello people, alright so about 2 weeks ago i purchased my swap magic 3.6 plus disc from a online spot called "baysoftgames" Now the first thing that went wrong was the DVD disc does not boot at all! My PS2 is only about a month old and i don't use it much and handle it with care so i know it can't be my laser.... Now recently after using my cd version disc i have been noticing when booting up ONLY with the swap magic disc the laser goes crazy and moves up and down and touches the disc ect... My original games, ps1 games, dvds & backups do not have this problem it is only the swap magic... Now i know it may be bad on the last hopefully i can get i can get a new set soon but i was just wondering.... has anyone experienced this problem before or know what might be wrong or how i can fix it ???

Any help would truly be appreciated.

your SM discs are just low quality. when the laser has a hard time reading data the driver increases current to the focus coils, if data is still unreadable but it knows there is a disc present then it will drive the laser unit up/down seeking an AOA that the laster can read data from the disc. you can try cleaning the SM disc making sure it doesn't have a film on the protective coating causing the laser to be incapable of reading the ink.

Damn KC your all over helping people hehe thanks alot for the reply bro i was worried all day about what the problem might be because my PS2 is fairly new and the store warranty is over as well as the warranty stick was taken off, I think i cleaned the disc the second day or so i've been using the cd version to boot dvd games and i'm just about ready to buy a new set do you think that would be best ? I know the DVD disc was defective but the CD version is screwing up little by little and i'm scared :(

P.S. Do you have any recommendation to any good sites that have swap magic and are reliable for USA buyers ?

get a chip and stop wasting money on swapping, it's cheaper in the long run.

Yeah i've been thinking about that for a while now but the problem is i'm in the U.S. and i don't know anyone around my way who mods consoles and i don't think the repair shops around here do that plus i'm not sure what chip is good for my slim PS2 and how much the total will be :(

I'm in the US and I've modded thousands of consoles and hundreds of PS2s and there are countless US based online mod sites (teammodders/norcalmods to name a few), you just haven't done much checking. seams the past few yrs a new modder is popping up on every street corner and i get more work based on bad installs by them then first timers.

for a chip i suggest the DMS4 Pro SE
