I have been using DVD Shrink for almost a year. Recently however I have been unable to burn DVDs with DVD Shrink. Today, I tried to burn Pirates of the Caribbean2 but I kept getting Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

I have uninstalled and reinstalled but still the same error. This has happened with many others as well in the last 3 months. Are the new DVDs coming out with new technology that DVD Shrink cannot work with?

Shrink is a very good program. It is older and no longer supported. So, the answer to your question is "Yes". But don't toss the program yet.

Here is what I use:
DVD Decrypter
DVD Shrink
ImgBurn

If Shrink runs into a problem then:
DVDFab Decrypter
VOBBlanker
DVD Shrink
ImgBurn

All are free and easy to use. Skip the Pay For programs as they are not necessary. Lots of people use them, spend your money if you must. But, I prefer FREE! Never had a failure using the above methods.

RipIt4Me combines some of the above with FixVTS. Sounds workable, haven't tried it. Also Free.

jay2412 hi :)

A "CRC" error is most often caused by bad media - it could be any of the following:

1. A dirty disc,
2. A scratched disc
3. A poor quality disc (cheap media if it happens during the "Burn" section of your work)
4. A bad disc from the Mfgr.
5. It can also be due to structural copy protection on a disk.
6. It can also be from a bad optical component in your drive.

you could run AnyDVD in the background (it gives you a free trial)
worth every penny if you decide to buy
