Ok so i bought a brand new slim line sliver ps2, its a version 15, so first i bought the xeno ps chip from mod-chip.com, and i installed it, but it would not play my backups, i was able to get into the config menu and disable it, but it wouldnt play my backups, so i sent back the chip and exchanged it for a Matrix infinity green dot. I reinstalled and redid the whole job and did an amazing job, all wires are nice and parallel and look great, and i checked all points, and it seems to do the same thing, the boot logo comes up, i can disable it, and i can get into the config menu, but it wont play my backups! And i know that the backups work because i used to have a old fat ps2 that they would play on..... Can some one please help me!!! any comments please!
thank you
also, it wont play ps1 backups, and also i tried upgrading to the latest firmware( using swap magic, because the chip wont boot my cd's) and it just pauses up, i have tried everything, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know, im going crazy :(

IF you were flashing with the correct 'hacked' bios then you don't need to use swap magic to boot the flash disc, it doesn't sound to me like you know whats going on and may have used the wrong flash.
also if you have one of the oh so popular cloned versions of the Matrix Infinity (non green dot) then if you tried to flash it you fried the chip.

well thats the whole problem, it wont read any homebrew cds or anything, so i have to use swap magic to get it to even load the cd, and i really doubt its a clone, i got it from www.mod-chip.com
http://mod-chip.com/index-cart-us.php?go=en/select_ps2_main.htm
check it out and let me know if you think its a clone, the chip has never worked for me whatsoever, so i kinda think maybe the chip just isnt compatable with this new version of ps2?

firmware v1.82 is a 'hacked' version, meaning it boots backed up games not homebrew only.
in all honesty it sounds like you've got a bad installation. I've got countless customers in the past who have tried installing a chip themselves and swear they have them in right and they don't work and they think they have a bad chip and it turns out to be a simple mistake on the installation.

with what all you describe it doing and not doing, check the CDVD OE signal (wire A on the infinity if memory serves me) make sure it's separated from B I H & G and not all wrapped up in a bundle with no excessive length. it is the authentication signal and it can be touchy to interference and cause failed boots of any backup or homebrew disc. a wild shot as the infinity isnt as touchy on this signle as the DMS chips. you said you got into configuration menu so that tells me the chip is working and the BIOS connections are in tact.

ok, yeah no wires really cross over each other, but i do have those points running in between two big black things, not sure what they are, but they might be giving resistance, maybe my wires are just to long all together also, here is a pick of my install if you want to take a look

those wires are waaaaaayy to long. good job with the hot glue too :)
not trying to be disrespectful or derogotory here but that's about as butchered an install as i've seen and i've seen some pretty bad ones. your BIOS connections are horriable, huge clumps of solder, excessive bare wire length and it looks like you made several wrong connections and had to redo them, there also looks as if there may be some bridges on those connections.
on a good note, you do have an original Matrix chip :)

no problem. and i assure you, if you ever mod one again, you'll know better next time to do a more tidy job. it's allot less frustrating and takes less time to 'do it right the first time'
