I was just wondering if anyone knew if a guy could upload some of his music onto his xbox 360. I know that you can stream music from your pc to your 360 but that is a pain and sometimes when I go to my friends houses I bring my 360 and want to listen to some of my music. Is there any way that I can reformat my music files and then upload them onto my 360 hard drive and just store them there and then play them from the 360? Thanks.

You can rip CD's onto the 360 hard drive just like you would a computer, but you have to reenter all the info which kinda sucks, I don't think there is a way to transfer the files straight from your computer to the 360 without a hack but I could be wrong though, would be nice if you could. If you have an mp3 player you could always play them from there too.

so, when you rip them from an ordinary cd do you just put the cd into the 360 and follow the prompts that pop up or do lyou have to enter a certain setup screen to do this??? Also, can you rip from a burned cd or does it have to be from the original cd??? Thanks.

If you're online, even with a silver account, it will detect the cd track titles, etc on a real cd(Or a 1:1 burn). Just not on home made mix discs. But it will read them.

It can be a burned CD, I have only tried a cd I made with iTunes music so didn't realize it would update the tracks of a real CD through live, thanks handsom for the info, the way I did it was to put the CD in the drive, then go to the Media tab and select music. You should see other all the music sources available like PC, mp3 player, CD depending on what you have connected to the xbox. If you click CD you should see an option to rip the music. I'm writing this from memory since I'm not actually in front of my xbox so I may be a little off, but hopefully that gets you there. Good luck.

hey man just a heads up , its better streeming them to the 360 via a usb or lan cable instead of ripping them to harddrive, because i did it and when i was playing call of duty 2 (with all of the yelling and the sound of bullets ) and i could barely hear the music, so i thought that if i increased the bit rate (increases the volume of the file within) i might be able to hear better but no luck, so when i got my phones memory card and i card reader that i use on my comp connected by usb and connected it to the usb ports on the xbox 360, and while playing the game the music was unbelieveably the best quality, so ya, oh and also its better keeping you xbox 360 harddrive clean of all personal stuff like music so the loadtimes would decrease,
ps. WOW that was long post (my one lol!)

I hadn't actually played any of the 10 tracks I ripped onto the 360, but I'll have to see if I experience the same thing, I normally stream from my PC too since all my music is already on there.

Right now? You don't. Not by natural means, anyways. There is a way (I don't know it in detail) to remove your drive, and plug it into your pc, with special software, and transfer files over.
But it's a LOT of extra work. I don't know if I will be doing it or not. But if I do, it will be at the same time that I do the HDD replacement mod. Yes, there is an HDD replacement mod, which requires less effort than the original XBox did, because these ones aren't system-locked.

Hey you can turn the music up from your 360 start guide or music player. It took me a while before I noticed you can do that.
As far as ripping your CD's to the hdd its kinda a pian, but currently its all we got. Its def. not dumb, Metalica while playing Gears of War is ****ing great. Not that stupid custom soundtrack crap from xbox1.

ya i know that, but notice that when you play music (with high volume from the xbox360) which is ripped and music that is being streemed from WMP11, are very very different (in volume), the streemed music is way way louder and the ripped music is not even half as loud. (even with the fill volume on the 360) .
try it for you self .
get a mp3 song file. for ex "let the bodies hit the floor", and burn it to a cd (in audio cd format) and ripp it on to the 360 and also streem that file from a computer or a usb drive. and play them 1 after the other with full volume set on the 360 and take a listen at the difference.(in volume)
