i've been having a few problems with my xbox360,
mostly with playing disks.
i tried playing a video cd in it & it wouldnt play.
it just kept saying open tray, in the media section of the dashboard.
i tried 3 different video cd's & still no luck.
i'm also having trouble with certain DVD-R disks..
i made a few backups of my original films to DVD-R & some play fine, even better than the originals in fact, but some don't even play..
i tried to play project gotham racing 3 the other day
& it refused to play.
on the screen it said something like "put this disk into an xbox360 console" & refused to move anywhere but the screnn displaying this.
i dont understand this as my xbox360 is only a couple of weeks old & i haven't even opened it up yet, never mind flash the drive.
any help/advice or suggestions are welcome,
thanks

Playing VCD's is not supported by default on the 360. I have been looking for a software hack somewhere which would enable this but haven't found one yet.
The best option I have is to convert VCD format to DVD, burn to DVD and run it.
I have burnt a few photo DVD's to DVD -R and haven't had a problem viewing it.
Yep, that's odd that it won't play PGR3, is the disk scratched? I rented oblivion from blockbuster once and it wouldn't play b/c of scratches. If it's not scratched I would return the box for a new one.
As far as DVD's, I've been backing mine up to +r and haven't had a single problem playing them on the 360, they look great too. I've been able to stream .wmv from the PC though, you could try that if it's in that format.
