Hey, I don't usually spend time in this forum, I spend most of my time in the Playstation 2, but I have this one question. This question has probably been answered so I did a search and didn't find what I was looking for. Anyway, I have heard about the RIAA and the government and all that are going to start going after individual users so that people will stop downloading all this media. Therefore I was wondering if there was anyway to block my identity (ip address) from these people whether it's a certain file sharing program or a program you run in conjunction with your file sharing application. I have heard about peer guardian but it sounds like it's nothing more than a small firewall in which I already have a macafree firewall. Help would be appreciated.

One option is to use an ip-blocking program like PeerGuardian which blocks connections from P2P enemies. PeerGuardian checks the IP addresses from open connections so it's like your second firewall and won't interfere with your "primary" firewall. The program has it's own P2P enemy IP database which you can update yourself manually by entering new IP addresses or downloading an updated IP-database.

This is not the ultimate solution to the problem but it will give you atleast some protection which is better than nothing at all.

PeerGuardian: http://methlabs.org/methlabs.htm

For some reason the latest PeerGuardian v1.981b hogs up all cpu time so I recommend installing 1.97b from http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tim.leonard1/pg/

P2P enemy IP database update from http://www.simply-click.org/uploadertest/pgupdates.asp
