Hi all, i previously have 2.6 version firmware and I did the downgrade to 1.5 and it worked fine, I can use all my homebrew now, etc. The only problem is that when i tried to upgrade the PSP will not let me now, it gives me an error message. The odd thing is i did the EXACT same thing to my buddies PSP literally right after mine but he can upgrade. Any ideas what is causing this, and is my PSP screwed?

Its not really a problem downgrading has risk man you should have known that,BE happy you still have your psp and your on 1.5 luck has side effects you know.BTW its not a brick you may have installed some program that is preventing you to upgrade..Do this restore your default settings it may work.

Installing mod chips arent your best solution right now,Dig whatever info in the downgrder you use or who made it because some of the custom firmwares have add on programs...I think Xflash(not sure about the name) is installed on your PSP that program disables the the update on your PSP try searching for this in the forum i think this topic has been discused already..Dont do harsh decisions it will only make things worse

That should do the trick,The only thing you got to do now is test your PSP/Upgrade your PSP(MAN I HATE THIS UPGRADE THANG)then if your successfull then downgrade back.Got the guts to undergo a risky method. Why does (I CANT UPGRADE MY PSP ITS BRICKED) you should be lucky others are installing programs just to prevent an upgrade but if you will still go man ill recommend 2.71 it does what a 1.5 can do.

i took Xflash off previously with no luck since Xflash modifies the firmware or whatever. I changed the backgrounds and the wave effect. Im not really looking forward to upgrading but i might be selling it and if i do i just want it to be updated. So even with it un-installed i have the same problem, is there something i have to do inside the program to get it back to normal?

Have you tried to the restore default settings?Where did you get that downgrader maybe you should consult the guys from there they should have a solution for it.As far a know Xflash is preventing you to upgrade your PSP is not bricked,Xflash cannot be remove by simply deleting it.

as far as i can see there are no options to restore everything back to default. the downgrader i used was the original downgrader (dont remember the name exactly but it was very well done in the fact that it walked you through step by step on the exe). Anyways anything you know about it would help.

nah, i reformmated the stick thus getting rid of the Xflash program, then did the restore defaults and and restarted put when i try to upgrade via UMD i get the same error "The update cannot be started. The data is corrupt." I get that when trying to do a manual update too via the GAME/UPDATE folder

Here's your big problem if im not mistaken Xflash writes flash(if someone could confirm this)the problem is it is not installed on your mem stick but directly to your psp.Find a program that disables it and i repeat your psp is not bricked you might confuse it for something else.

well i know for a fact Xflash writes to the flash of the PSP, but im not familiar on how to disable that, ive looked here and on pspupdates, psp hacks all those sites with the similar problem with no avail. if it was bricked it wouldn't be turning on or launching shit so at least i know im good partially.
