Hi, I just signed up now.
Im desperate to find out if anybody can help me with my PS2 problems.
I have a PS2 3003, dunno which version, but the board is half the size of a normal PS2. I fixed my power supply by replacing the RM10A Diode with an RM2A, near the fuse. Everything works fine, but the graphics are Fuzzy. When I say Fuzzy, I mean that they are not as clear as they should be. The colour is fine tho.
What seems to be the problem here?
I also have a 3003R PS2, version 5. Everything powers up, the disc spins/ejects/laser reads disc, but I don't get a display, it's just a couple black n blue fuzzy lines scrolling down the screen.
Whats the problem here?
More importantly, HOW DO I FIX THESE PROBLEMS ???
Please email me

Oh, i'm new here, i didnt realise. But I dont mind if people email me.
Yeah I've tried a diff A/V cable, and different TV's. I KNOW its an electronics problem within the PS2. But I can't seem to find it. I know electronics & fault finding, but to an extent. And this problem is beyond my extent. lol.
Please help.
Also, I just got a PS2 slimline, and the power won't stay on. The green light comes on for a split-second, and powers down again.
How can I diagnose this?

Firstly if its not the cable or the tv, then it can either be the AV socket, if thats not the problem, then the ps2 probably has a fried GPU.
About your slimline, the light turns red after a plit second because a fuse on the motherboard is probably blown, use a multi meter to check all the fuses. What version is your slimline, i will link a diagram of the fuses.

How does that explian 2 x normal PS2's with the same problem? They used to work before.
I dont know which version my slimline is. But I'm about to strip it once I've finished chippin my friend's slimline. I just gotta upload the firmware to the M3 Mushroom chip, and i'm done.
I'll let u know what version my slimline is once i've taken it apart. I'll give u the board number or something.
Thanks mate.

oh well, scrap the old PS2's. I just chipped my mates PS2, and it wont read the CD with the firmware to flash the M3 Mushroom. Keeps sayin Please Insert PlayStation 2 Disc. But original games work fine. I have double-checked the wiring, its all perfect, not touching any other contacts. I used a multimeter for this, set to continuity test with buzzer.
My slim PS2 is SCPH-70003, same as my mates.

NOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!!!!!
Damn maaaannnnnn. Oh well.
Ok, I have yet ANOTHER PS2 (not slimline), and I got that dreaded BA5815 chip that's blown.
I noticed that the display went black, and nothing would eject or spin. I changed the BA chip, got the cd to spin & eject, but display is still black. I think the BA chip is not soldered properly. But if it is, what could cause the black screen to stay resident? It used to work fine before the BA chip blew up. Now nothing will appear on the screen. So what could the problem be ?

A dead BA5815 chip does not cause the screen to go blank, if this is happening, try different lead, tv, check all fuses, if all check out, you have another useless machine, do you ground yourself before you do anything to the systems?

Check the PS11 fuse, that normally blows with the BA5815.

Double check these fuses, PS12/PS14. Actually just test all of them, be easier.
