I just got my 360 and am completely new to the whole mod/hack scene. I have been reading through some of the posts but find them completely confusing. I was wondering if there has been a Beginer's guide to modding your 360 type thread or something similar that will show us newbies what all these terms mean, how to do these mods, and what it accomplishes. Just wondering if anyone could give me a hand at getting started. Some questions i had for you guys were

1. Can i hook up an external hard drive to my 360 (already read yes and how, but really confused)

2. Can i rip and download games onto the hard drive and play and save them directly off the hard drive

3. transfer my mp3s directly to the hard drive and play them off there.

4. where to download games and how to succesfully get them to play on my 360.

5. how to find what version of 360 i have and what mods there are for it

6. all this talk of "flashing" ????

yes you can but it will only hold music, pictures and video ( no games or any of that stuff) unless you hook it up to a sata cable instead of having the normal 20gb in place ( but this is really confusing so i advise you to leave it). from what i know it depends what type of dvd drive your xbox 360 has in it, the only way to check is to open the case ( if you dont know how to go here and itll show you how to: www.xboxchopshop.com) . once you have that ( if you still wanna "flash" your drive to play backups) come back here and tell us what it is ( usually samsung or hitachi i think, there should be a model number aswell). then someone can help you im sure.
