(To moderators - I think this is ok to post here, since I am not selling anything, just looking for opinions. If not just close it and I apologize)
I have a PS 3, I got it because of a game I thought would be PS3 Exclusive. But, I since found out it will be offered on Xbox360 as well. My problem was do I simply return the PS3 to the store or do I try to benefit from my finding it.
What I was thinking about doing was this.
Offering to trade someone my PS 3 (20 GB) never opened for a Premium Xbox360, extra wireless controler and 2 games.
I didn't want to come across as greedy, so that's all I was thinking about asking for. Do you guys think that's a fair offer?

its a fair offer but keep it for good sake it will beat the ps3 in a few
months time ive got a 360 but i cant wait til i get my ps3 dont be stupid keep it

PS3 brilliant ive got a 20gb jap here in the uk to high customs tho £92.90 and the step down was 45 quid oh well its awsome
psp(black1.5)
psp(white 1.5)
1 gb sandisk
other consoles (360)

not sure its a fair offer, considering that its a cheeper model of the ps3, which does not have some of the features that made the ps3 "true next gen"
PS3 specs may look better than xbox 360 but i am yet to see a game on the PS3 that looks better than any of the top end xbox 360 games such as gears of war, mass effect and halo 3.

@ Fninja - How is it a "CHEAP" model of the ps3 ? LMAO it's the exact same thing you can just update it to get those built in features that you claim the new ones will have if that's the case because i'm pretty sure sony is not stupid to release a whole new "better" model week or 2-3 months after it's original release.
@ Cinch - hey bro listen you can sell a PS3 on ebay for OVER $1,000 especially since it's unopened, it's your call i won't say it's a great trade but it's a few hundred dollars off from what you would be able to get if you sell the PS3 and buy a BRAND NEW xbox 360 premium, wireless contorol and 2 games.

put it on ebay now cash in and buy yourself the full throttle xbox 360 with hd dvd drive. sony sux they are banking on the game industry to save a failing company. Meanwhile Microsux is embracing not just the xbox, or the windos platform but really attempting to engage gamers in cross over compatiblities and enhanced online gaming expierences.

See, I don't think I would get $1,000 for it on Ebay, the prices there seem to have dropped quite a bit. Plus, I just want to get a decent deal here and not try and rip anyone off. I figured this would be a pretty good way to get this in the hands of someone that really wants it. I'm not into the whole try to try and get someone to spend all that much on this thing like some people.

It sounds like a fair trade to me, you want a 360 and they want a PS3. Yeah, you're getting a little more out of the deal, but they're getting a PS3 a lot sooner than they would trying to find one at a store. Nice to see theres still some people out there with morals too.

That's the way I was looking at it too. I get what I want and they get what they want and we are both happy. No sense in trying to get someone to pay through th teeth for a video game system. I know I wouldn't want to be screwed so I try to do how I would want to be treated. :-)

what i say is to sell it for a thousand get the premium xbox360 with 2-4 games and optional HDD thing and you keep the rest of the money in the bank
$500 for system with two games
$120 for 2 more games
$200 for HDD thing bundle at bestbuy with king kong movie and game(i think)
EQUALS= $820
$1000-820= $180
$180 for profit but in bank or what ever
sell the ps3 on craiglist, personally or on ebay but for ebay sell two weeks or aaa week before x-mas might be big rush for x-mas

It's not about not having morals bro, there are not many PS3's i could understand if there were plenty to go around but there isn't he could sell it and make profit rather then trade it for a used console but like i said it's your call bro take it i guess.... i'm not greedy or anything but your one of the lucky few to have gotten a PS3 you probably waited in line long and had to take the time of day to pick it up and pay FULL retail price plus it's unopened so i don't see how your "ripping off" being "greedy" or being "unfair" about it.

I would not take a used Xbox360. It must be new and unopened.
Would you buy the PS3 for $1,000?
I don't like to put really expensive things on Ebay as they kill you with their fees.
Craigslist I have never used before, but I have heard about it.
The only reason I bought it was for one game, then I found out that game will be on the 360 too so I no longer need it. I know many people are looking and I would rather this go to someone that wants it than who will try to flip it for more money and rip someone off.
Making a little bit extra on it is fine, but making double retail is too much imo. To each their own though.

Yeah i see where your coming from bro as a matter of a fact my little brother ripped someone off recently and i found out about it so now i'm trying to help that person get their money back as i too do not like to see or rip others off (a little off topic sorry) But ANYWAY if it's new then i say go for it! But then again even if the only title your looking for is on both consoles can't you just stick to it for the PS3 and keep the PS3 or are there other titles you like taht's only for the 360 as well ???

The one title I really want is Assasin's Creed which will release in mArch I believe. It looks just stunning and has some inovative controls.
But, you also have games like Halo which will never see a PS3.
I'm just not a Sony fan anymore... the Xbox really won me over. I have both Xbox and PS2. The game play, games and everything for the Xbox just seems to fit me better I think.
OK, I feel comfortable doing this type of trade. Now... I just have to find someone willing on the other end. lol

Why don't you*Gasp* keep the PS3? I see no reason to trade it for a 360 if the game you want is on it. Hell, you get a mighty fine Blu-ray player for 500 bucks with that.

in my opinion i don't see a problem in selling it for as much profit as you can make. There's obviously enough rich spoilt kids out there who can afford the mark-up, or rich parents who want their 'offspring' to have the latest gadgets. However what isn't on is a lot of the sales i've seen where people are selling an email address instead of the console (for instance) where they're scamming people who think they're buying the actual console. But then again if they're stupid enough to spend so much money (and on eBay too) then they don't deserve a whole lotta sympathy

I got it for the one game, like I said, but there are other games on the 360 that I want as well like Halo 3. I don't see any exclusive PS3 titles that tell me this is a must have.
I realize I could probably sell it for profit, but I would rather just get what I want out of it and have two happy people in the deal. I get the nex 360 that I want (with a few extras) and the other person gets a new PS3 that they want without having to spend an arm and a leg to get it.
