Hi,im new to the site and all the swap magic stuff,i kind of know some stuff but not much, i have a swap magic and i decided to make some backups,i done pro evo 6 fine, then tried smackdown vs raw and superman and they didnt work,it just said not a valid ps2 disc. I used Alcohol 120% and it worked first time, tried with the next two and nothing, burnt them on the slowest speed, so i tried using cheetah burner, but still nothing. Can anyone help?
Any prog suggestions or methods that i could try would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Maybe you could start by reading some of the sticky topics at the top of the forum? The ones entitled "How to Backup PS2 DVD Games with..." would be a good place to start!

hello

I am new to burning also. i could not find out a way to make this work with swap magic. In Valid PS2 disc. it the way your burning.

and i did read all the guides. i did learn alot off of them.
i still don't know how to rebuild? that looks hard to do?

i did do smackdown vs raw o7 just fine and a few other games.

i just just use dvd decrpyter and i burn to ISO file with Nero.
in some Neros in the startsmart- its says to copy or back where you make a copy/copy. in there it says to burn an image to disc.
write at 4x speed. i would say before you do this go to dvd video files in Nero, and click on opions and set your booktype to DVD-ROM. then do the image burn for your ISO.

This have worked every time for me. the games come out just great. and i did try to use every thing in the guides and nothing worked. i am new to this. i just think i could tell some one what i did that worked for me. Good luck

Use Quality Media I use
Verbatim DVD+R

***** BURN AT NO MORE THAN 1/2 the maximum speed of the disc******
(4x for 8x max media ...ect)

1. Take the ps2 game put it in the dvd rom or dvd burner, your choice.

2. open the dvd decryptor program then go to to tool bar and hit MODE>ISO>READ. Then choose the correct dvd drive that the game is in as the "source". Also choose where you want the files to be stored on the pc hdd. THEN CLICK DECRYPT , or the huge graphical picture at the bottom of the program which makes it run. The game is now copying to your HDD. Take the game out when finished (it might take a while).

3. Go to the same tab in dvd decryptor and choose MODE>ISO>WRITE. This will then let you look for the files you just created in step 2. Select the file that you just created. (There is only 2 files creadted so pick the .mds) (The smaller file)Then click WRITE, make sure there is blank DVD in the drive.

Booktyping to dvd-rom is helpful also, but not always needed on good media. (with a good burner/burn speed.)

Different burners may have different results,
Thats why I always recommend to burn at HALF the max speed of the blank media.

http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

The following list is in preference order. The best discs are near the top of the list. The discs at
the bottom of the list are suitable only for a landfill.

Almost flawless burns with 95-100% reliable results:
PVC = Pioneer = (-R)(-RW)
MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<-----------------VERBATIM MY CHOICE #1
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)<--------------FUJIFILM (made in japan) MY CHOICE #2

Those of you having a hard time rebuilding ps2 games,
Here is a short but comprehensive guide.

(Rebuilding SHOULD only be needed on the FEW DVD-9 games,
or those containing dummy files making it not load on OLDER
versions of swapmagic.) (Versions 3.0 and lower)

Hardware Required:

DVD burner
Mod Chip or Swap Magic
Blank DVD
At least 20 gigs of free space.

Software required:

DVD Decrypter
Iso Buster
cddvdgen
Nero
Apache 2

1) Use DVD Decrypter to extract the iso from your hard-drive.

2) Create a new folder, Extract all the data in the iso
into this folder using isobuster.

Dummy Files:
Some games have dummy files in them. They are used to increase the
size of the image and to copy-protect the game. Burning games with the
dummy files left unchanged will result in a game that does not boot
(using swap magic anyway). To remedy this annoyance follow these fun
steps.

A) Create a new text file. Open it and press the space
bar, then close it. This creates a byte of data in the text file.

b) Rename the text file you made to the exact same name
as the dummy file in your folder. The dummy file will be called
something like DUMMY.DAT, DUMMY.000, DUMMY.001 etc, GARBAGE.DAT. These
files will always be in the main folder of the iso.

C) Overwrite all those dummy files with the blank ones
you've created. (Games generally only have 1 dummy file, but some have
multiple dummy files)

3) Open up cddvdgen, you want to create a new DVD
project, the middle one. Drag over the new file you have created using
Iso buster, making sure you place them back into the same order as
they where in iso buster.

4) When you finish this go to the Volume tab and input
the follow data. Search though the folder you created with Iso buster
and locate the File, SLUS or SLES, note down the file name and number,
in the first box beside name, type the name you found, example (SLES)
followed by the number, without the period. Example (54322). Fill in
PLAYSTATION for producer, and the licence area is your area.

5) Click the record button at the top right and save it
to your C drive again. Name the file as f4.IML. You'll get 2 errors
but just hit ok and the recording window will load. If you don't then
you might be missing the wnaspi32.dll. Nero should have this if you
need it.

6) Go to file and export image to C drive (not a folder)
and name it f4.LST

7) Open up a dos prompt and go to your desktop, for most
of you the command will be "cd desktop" remove the quotes. From here
type "copy /b f4.000 + f4.001 + f4.002 + f4.003 f4.iso" and this
combines your files. This also assumes you have a file named f4.003,
if your files only go up to f4.002 don't add "+ f4.003", just put a
space and f4.iso at the end. From here hit enter.

7.b) Alternativly you can save some time by using apache
instead, Open apache 2. Load f4.iml Create .iso

8) Open up Nero burning rom and create a new UDF/ISO DVD
(It's the last one in the list). Burn it at 1/2 the max
speed of the blank media.

9) Enjoy your new backed up game?

I am new and trying to learn how to back up ps2 games. I have been reading the threads but the info seems scattered. If I get swap magic and have AnyDVD and clone cd will that be what I need to do this. Thanks

hello,

My ps2 is a SCPH-30001 R. is that what you wanted to know?

I am new to burning games. i juat got the swap magic 3.6 and slide card. works great.

I wasted like 10 dvds at first.
I did Read all these guide none did help me. burning the .MDS file made it load slow and skip alot. I did learn alot by read those guides.

now i get every game to work just great. ''not if they are to big.
i don't know how to rebulid yet.

I use DVD Decrypter. read ISO file. and i use burn with Nero 6.
i make sure the DVD setting are booktype to DVD-ROM. StartSmart Nero DVD video files opions change settings there. then i go to StartSmart Nero and there it says to copy or back up. or COPY/COPY.
it says to burn an image to a disc. ISO is an Image file ok. so i try it just for kicks. and the games work like the real copy.

I use Maxell DVD-R or DVD+R. 8x speed burn at 4x speed.

smackdown vs raw 07. works like the real copy.
me and my friend think it works becuase the buffer seems to real better. I don't know. i did try DVD Decrypter to burn with. skiping games!!. i try the new Imgburn -Not Vild Ps2 disc on screen.

I don't know - i am new to this like i said.
i am just saying it work for me. try it out.
I now have burn/backup NCAA football 07, Socom C.A, Black. GTA-SA.
all the same way. they work just fine.

If you would like to know more about how i did this just ask me.
i won't tell you to go read some guide, i will try to help or learn more my self.
thank you - RedMatt
