Hmm since psp can be bricked. If something were to mess up while flashing if the ps3 does that or even shutting down while updating. Do you think it would result in a brick? Especially during updating it is a much higher risk. Power failure, cord pulled out it's not like it has a battery backup. Any ideas? If so what would sony do about now? Hmm we might have to be more careful than some might think.

In fact I think we would be fooling our selves if we have a community this large, and did not realize that there are some enemies present.

Does anyone know if theres like a power reserve in the PS3 that will hold power in case the AC power fails? If not I suggest putting your PS3 on a PC battery backup when you update it.

Doesnt expecting the unexpected make the unexpected expected and therefore mean youre expecting the expected which was the unexpected until you expected it?

Most "good" pc power supplies have large capacitors to hold enough charge to allow the hard disks to get into a "safe state" in the event of an unexpected power failure. These capacitors cost money, however, and as sony is already taking it up the tailpipe on cost for this system I would hazard a no guess on whether they incorporated this safety feature.

I live where the power goes out in town when it storms. So i just have to be cautious.

Or you can get a battery backup just in case of that freak power outage. Better than losing $600 on a brick PS3.

dude, compared to the PSP, the PS3 will be the heaviest, sexyiest, shiniest, useless ... brick lol.

Technically it could happen, since the whole system is similar to the PSP, just on a larger scale.

But if mine bricked, I would be pretty pissed. I mean the PSP is like 200 bucks, but this is more than half a grand lol.

Wouldn't it be more like a cement block?
