i need help fixing my xbox. heres the problem i had a soft modded xbox and it got messed it up somehow i guess it got restored back to the normal xbox setting green xbox screen and i want to fix it and put it back to the modded box but heres the second problem when i start my xbox with a normal xbox game it wont read it at all it says its not a xbox game or dvd or audio cd even tho its a real game wont play nothing at all no dvd no games no burn games nothing and i want to fix it also the sounds messed now too making shitty sounds and i want to fix it i just want to see if someone can help me fix it so i can make it play normal xbox games and then soft mod it again HELP someone?...

Sorry, I can't help, I'm not exactally an techno wiz but was wondering if you could help me.
When I switch on my Xbox a notice appears in six different languages which says;
"Your Xbox requires service. Please call Xbox customer support."
and the ring around the disc button flashes alternately green and red.
please help if you can

lock the hard drive, if you have a hardmoded xbox
Jesus must have had a bad connection, it took him 3 days to respawn.
(not my own, props to whoever came up with it!!)

Newbies, helping Newbies, helping newbies!
Ok...dpinkney, you have a DDE (Dirty Disc Error), you need to repair\replace your DVD! Do a search on how to go about that.

Hijacking posts is against the rules, keep it up and you will be banned. However, if you can see a number in the top left of the screen it will tell you what is wrong with your Xbox!

Don't give advice that is completely irrelevant to the conversation! Also, if you have a Hardmodded Xbox, it won't make any difference if your drive is locked or not!

ok, so Mr. chunkhead... why is it that when i unlock my hard drive, turn my xbox off, then turn it on with the mod chip off, that i can not play the game. and ^ their message comes up on my screen also?
Jesus must have had a bad connection, it took him 3 days to respawn.

ok well my xbox wont read normal xbox games...at all wont read them and i tryed cleaning it didn't help..and where does it say wats wrong with my xbox?

Ok... Firstly,
@MEDA4, if you had a modchip, why would you be turning it off? The only reason you can turn it on\off is to play on XBLive. With the modchip enabled, it makes no difference whether the HDD is locked or not, the chip doesn't check!
@ dpinkney, sorry about the long winded thread, I'm just trying to help everyone! Ok, which drive do you have? Look here http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/xbox_..._comparison.htm
after that you need to clean your drive out. Intially just open the drive, give it a good blow with compressed air and see if it works. If still no go, check and clean the laser eye with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip VERY gently. Re-assemble and try. If still no luck, try a Pot Tweak http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/409908

@ Lydia90, you have a corrupt dashboard! If you can still load original games, load one with Xbox Live and then try to access Live. It will update your dash and fix your problem! If you can't, can you see the white "Microsoft" logo under the big green "X" on startup? If you can you need to hotswap http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/332766

i have a Thompson drive i have never opened an xbox..before i dont have the tools do do what u have told me to do..second it was soft modded and then i guess restored to reg xbox some how it read disks before..the time when it go restored and now it doesn't read anything at all..and i want to fix it so i can play burned games..is all..

ok so i cleaned the lens and it plays normal xbox games..but the sound is fucked..ok if i wanted to put the mod back on can i just get 007 agent under fire and load it up with the save on my xbox since at one time it was a modded xbox..like i have 007 agent under fire and then xnleashed file and a download update and something else..let me know..thanks

so its fucked again i tryed to put in an xbox game after i shut it down and started it back up and its back to saying dirty disk. fucking xboxs are gay. worset waste of time ever..cant even fix the fucking thing.

Your best bet if you don't want to try and fix your DVD is to buy a new DVD from eBay or the likes, they are just plug and play!

What do you mean you don't have XP? Are you using Win '98? The program is called 360, but it's not for Xbox 360! A bit confusing I know! No luck with the Live trick?
