G'day guys
just joined having trawled the site for awhile thought i would hook up and maybe offer some help if needed but at the minute i realky need some answers as to what could be the problem with my chipped ps playing newley released games that i have burnt. Or is it politically correct to say BACKED-UP.
I am currently having a freezing problem, with SCARFACE. Man it is really sh#$@ting me it is such a cool game but it freezes.
Tomb raiders legends did the same thing but when it did work i finished it.
From memory i think i had a Magic 3 or 3.1 chip put into it.
I am trying the process of elimination to find the problem.
I pulled my ps2 apart and air cleaned it. WORKS sweet
I use TDK DVD+R 1-16x 4.7gB discs never really had a problem till about 6 months ago. i burn with NERO( no problem there)
All my games are burnt so there is no issue with the process just the playing of the babies
Could the problem be: Need a new laser?
Need a new CHIP?
Need better dvd+r's? ( have worked well
for the other games.
or is it the new games that are comin out?
Guys i am pulling my hair out with this annoying little setback. I am a serial burner from way back. WHo only wishes to play games for the purpose that were made for ... TO FINISH THEM!!!!!!

I had the same problem as you did.
Gave up using DVD+R and started use DVD-R.
All was solved.
And more !! Coppied the games that were working bad (freezing and with long loadings) from the DVD+R to the DVD-R, and they ran fine.
Burn your games with half speed of the one marked on the discs.
Hope this´ll be helpful.
Keep using TDKs, is the brand i´m using and in hundreds, i didn´t get a faillure. (avoid Maxell, unless they´re made in Japan).

If your burner can booktype a game from DVD+R to DVD-Rom
that would help greatly. I also prefer the DVD-R discs myself.
I have both the games you mentioned and did not have a problem
backing up either one.
TDK is ok on some PS2's and not so great on others. They are not bad discs but can be inconsistant.
Verbatim, Philips or Taiyo Yuden are better choices.
And i always like to get the 8X rather than the 16X
Then burn them at 4X with DVD Decrypter, never did like Nero.
